Surf lessons & coaching

We start on the beach with a warm-up, a overview of technique and safety rules, then head straight into the water. Beginners practice in the white water, learning to stand up and find their balance, while advanced surfers take on the green waves in the line-up to sharpen their skills.
Whether you’re catching your first wave or riding more powerful swells, it’s all about improving your skills, having fun, and staying safe in the water with the ocean knowledge we share. Let’s enjoy the surf!

Do you want to elevate your surfing skills with more personalized attention? A private lesson gives guidance focused on your level.
Your instructor will guide you through techniques, help you master the fundamentals, and refine your skills, while also teaching you about ocean conditions and proper surf rules. -
Are you with a group of 6 or more people? Let us know, and we'll happily arrange an unforgettable surfing experience for you!
The content of the lesson is the same as a regular surf lesson, but with more people and instructors.

Want to learn to surf or level up your skills while having fun in the ocean? Our junior lessons are designed to help young surfers grow in confidence, technique, and ocean awareness. With experienced instructors by your side, you’ll learn, improve, and challenge yourself, all in a safe and encouraging environment. And who knows, you might even head out on a little beach adventure with Paloma the dog.

We teach all levels, from beginners to advanced surfers, thanks to the experience of our instructors and the ideal conditions of the beach.

All our instructors speak Spanish and English and enjoy learning words from other languages.

We put safety and personal attention first. The ocean can be strong, and there are rules to follow. Our role is to guide you carefully, so you gain the skills and confidence to surf on your own, which takes focus and support.

Playa Hermosa, meaning "beautiful beach," is perfect for surfing. Beginners can practice on the many whitewater waves in a safe, rock-free area, while advanced surfers can challenge themselves on the green waves of the line-up. The water stays warm year-round, making it enjoyable in every season.
Meet Randy
Hi, I’m Randy, founder of Vamos Surf School, and I have a deep passion for surfing. My roots are in the mountains of Nicoya, the Blue Zone of Costa Rica, where my life has always been closely connected to nature. In my teenage years, I moved to Nosara, which sparked my love for surfing. I started surfing over a decade ago here at Playa Hermosa, which I now call home. Besides surfing, I have a big passion for woodworking and art.
I’ve been teaching surfing lessons since 2017, and every day I enjoy sharing my knowledge with people from all over the world. Alongside my loyal dog, Paloma, we’re ready to welcome you whenever you’re ready to hit the waves!
You will be surfing either with me or one of my Tico friends, all certified surf instructors dedicated to helping you improve and enjoy the ocean.
